DAVE AND RONDA ANDERSON NAMED 2019 FOUNDERS DAY GRAND MARSHALS
New Albany, OH: The New Albany Founders Day Committee is excited to announce this year’s Grand Marshal for the 2019 New Albany Founders Day Parade will be Dave and Ronda Anderson. Both Dave and Ronda have played everlasting roles within our community.
Ronda:
- Ronda and her family (Westbrook) was raised in New Albany (since 1967) and is a 2nd generation graduate (1977) New Albany High School, along with siblings Loni, Ronnie, and Bob, (after their father, Ronald Westbrook 1951)
- As a way to “give back”, spent her career in education (31 years) at New Albany Schools. She taught 7-8 grade language arts; several years taught 3rd grade; over 20 years as a school counselor (middle and elementary)
- Was a den mother of Den 4 Cub Scouts for 2-3 years
- Served on New Albany High School Alumni Committee several years
- Served several years on the New Albany High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee
- Retired after 21 years in the United States Air Force – the Ohio Air National Guard – 121st Air Refueling Wing, as a Lieutenant Colonel
Dave:
- Was a manager at Morris Cardinal and worked with many New Albany High School students while at the store
- He spent the rest of his career working for New Albany schools as a school transportation mechanic and he is currently driving students for New Albany schools
Together:
- Dave and Ronda married in 1988
- Their son, Seth, graduated from New Albany High School (3rd generation)
- Lifetime member of the Plain Township Historical Society where they
- Built floats for a variety of parades
- Portrayed the Statue of Liberty for one of the floats for Founders Day
- Researched, organized, and ran “Pioneer Games” as a part of Founders Day activities
