FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 12, 2025
New Albany, OH: New Albany Founders Day is honored to recognize Richard “Dick” Fisher as the Grand Marshal of the Dr. Glyde A. Marsh New Albany Founders Day Parade.
Dick was a dedicated member of the New Albany community since he moved here in 1984 with his wife, Mary, and their two children, Rick and Joy, both of whom graduated from New Albany High School.
Over the years, Dick served as a Plain Township Trustee and on the New Albany Village Council. He also held various roles at New Albany Schools, coaching and assisting within the athletic department. He was a member of Franklin Church in New Albany, where he found fellowship and spiritual support.
After a distinguished career as a firefighter, Fire Chief, Bureau Chief, and part-time police officer in Clinton Township, Dick became the Director of Security at New Albany Schools. He was a strong advocate for supporting the fire and police departments and participated in the first New Albany Citizen’s Police Academy, which he strongly recommended to residents.
Sadly, Dick passed away in April after a long illness, just a few weeks before Founders Day.
“Dick was a mainstay of New Albany,” said Linda Honaker, President of New Albany Founders Day. “He was a valuable and involved part of our community in so many areas – government, public safety, youth sports, and more – and he will be greatly missed.”
Dick will be represented by his family at the Dr. Glyde A. Marsh New Albany Founders Day Parade and New Albany Founders Day Festival on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Rose Run Park in New Albany.
